Permit activity was pretty steady this week, with increased interest in Kodiak seine permits (offers of $25,000, lowest asking price is $30,000), and Kodiak Tanner permits for the upcoming January season. We have a Tanner permit to 60' listed at $80,000 and a permit to 120' at $120,000, and an offer of $12,000 for an EMT. There were new offers for charter permits, more price reductions, and a few new listings. Check them out below!
Bristol Bay fisheries were in the news a lot this week: OBI fishermen are accusing the company of withholding payments; the fishery's ex-vessel value is about 37% below the 10-year average; setnetters are weighing whether or not to join BBRSDA; and a longtime fisheries economist chats about the dynamics of the 2023 season.
Statewide, the 2023 salmon harvest is 16% above the pre-season forecast, but down about 10% by volume from 2022. Full season recap here.
ICYMI: here's the 2023/2024 proposal book for regular cycle Board of Fish meetings on Upper Cook Inlet, Lower Cook Inlet, and Kodiak finfish.
